Target population

Uplift’s target population are families (with a daily income of 2-6 USD for an average family of four), in the unorganized sector bracket of India (living in ghettos) -mostly daily wage earners who generally have no access to social protection schemes or to formal credit
Uplift has designed an inhouse poverty assessment tool to measure the socio economic level of a family that is used to measure the impact of Uplift programmes on these families over a period of time |

This tool has been designed to measure and track overtime the levels of poverty in families under UIA intervention. The process is aided by an inhouse developed “UImpact” a Software designed to facilitate analysis of this study. The unit of study is the 'Family'. The Impact of micro-credit, micro-insurance and other UIA intervention is studied on the household as a whole. The tool is based on 7 levels of poverty. The parameters to calculate the level are a combination of both quantitative & qualitative indicators. |
